Vivian is located in extreme northwest Louisiana, close to Texas and Arkansas, in Caddo Parish.
It is on Louisiana Highway 1, and about half-way between Shreveport and Texarkana, in the heart of the Ark-La-Tex Region. Also nearby is Bossier City and Barksdale Air Force Base.
Other nearby towns include Mooringsport, Hosston, Oil City, Gilliam, Ida, Benton, Belcher, Dixie, Plain Dealing, and Rodessa.
Vivian is the home to about 4,000 residents. It is close to Caddo Lake to the southeast and Black Bayou Lake to the northwest. Also not far away to the south is the huge Toledo Bend Reservoir, a popular fishing, boating, and camping destination.
Vivian is the site of the annual Louisiana Redbud Festival. The 48th annual festival was held in 2012.
The rolling hills in northwest Louisiana are full of blooming redbud trees and dogwood trees in the spring, and road trips in the area are a popular destination.
Phil Robertson, the star of the popular TV series "Duck Dynasty" is a native of Vivian, and starred in football at North Caddo High School before playing quarterback at Louisiana Tech in Ruston.
