Farmerville Louisiana

Fishing, boating, skiing, camping, and hiking in North Louisiana?

Lake D'Arbonne, in Farmerville, is a major fishing, boating and camping destination in North Louisiana, spanning 15,000 acres in beautiful hill country.

Lake D'Arbonne State Park offers a large variety of outdoor activities. And located about 15 miles to the southeast is D'Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge.

Farmerville is located north Louisiana about 25 miles northeast of Ruston, and is the parish seat of Union Parish. Farmerville is the home of the annual Louisiana Watermelon Festival held the last weekend in July.

Area towns include Dubach, Bernice, Spearsville, Sterlington, Calhoun, Hilly, Vienna, Junction City, and Choudrant.

The area was settled as long ago as the 1790s; in 1839 Union Parish was created out of the northern part of Ouachita Parish and the town named Farmerville was laid out as the parish seat. The town was subseqently incorporated in 1842. Today, Farmerville is the home for nearly 5,000 residents.
